Hello and thank you for visiting my website.
My name is Gerardo Soriano, I am primarily a scientist and an educator, but I am also an artist and a little bit of a mathematician, writer, photographer, molecular gastronomist, cook, body builder, and skateboarder. More broadly speaking, I consider myself a lifelong learner. One of my ultimate goals in life is to show people the power of science and education and, what that power can do for them once they are able to harness it. Perhaps better said, my aim is to empower people through science and education -- for the good of society.
In 2015 I graduated from San Diego State University (SDSU), where I earned a bachelor's degree in chemical physics. Besides earning this science credential, at SDSU I was part of a National Institutes of Health funded Maximizing Access to Research Careers honors scholars program. Being in this program allowed to gain a competitive edge in conducting scientific research as an undergraduate in both experimental and theoretical chemistry. I also conducted undergraduate research at the University of San Diego and Duke University, and have some of my research findings published in the Journal of the American Chemical Society (ACS Publications). Moreover, I have gained vast experience in communicating science to both scientists and non-scientists alike by participating, over the course of several years, in student research competitions, national science conferences and science outreach events.
After graduating from SDSU, I joined the Chemistry and Biochemistry PhD program at the University of California at San Diego to conduct research in theoretical chemistry. It was not long however before I realized that I wanted to pursue other interests, mainly related to promoting science and education to the general public through social media, specifically YouTube and Instagram. I am currently working on several ambitious projects, the main one being a YouTube video series aimed to teach people about science, education, and on all of the subjects which I feel that I can provide good insight. All of my projects encompass the overall theme of my lifelong goal: empowering people through education in order to better people's lives and society as a whole.
